Tina Brain French Horn

Tina performed in our concerts for Killara Music Club in February 2010, Macarthur Music Club in August 2011 and returned to perform in our Western Tour in October 2011.

For over one hundred years, the name Brain has been linked to the French Horn. Tina Brain is the 5th member of her family to play the horn professionally; a tradition started by her great grandfather A E Brain in the 1890's. The famous horn player "Dennis Brain" was Tina's uncle.

Tina studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, with Derek Taylor from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, who had himself been taught by her grandfather Aubrey Brain. Initially from England, Tina played 4th horn with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for 11 years before moving to Australia in 2001. Since settling in Sydney, Tina has played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and ensembles within Sydney. Tina is an AMEB Brass examiner and teaches Horn at Barker College, Abbotsleigh, Knox, PLC and St Ignatius College.
